Bret Stout's Written Works
Do Not Fit In Any One Bucket

Not Your Ordinary Career Path: Bret may have taken several lateral moves throughout his career in advertising (ie: Sr. Writer for Leo Burnett to Sr. Art Director for Chiat Day) but the end result has changed brands.

Best Attributes: The ability to inspire and motivate; the unique ability to sort-and-simplify complex data

Bret Stout began his career as an illustrator and then a writer. He has numerous written and published works - and started at a very early age. "My dream was to become a syndicated cartoonist - the opportunity to write and illustrate and share my ideas with the world."

In the advertising world, he found many opportunities to do just that. His first advertising job came in 1981 - and in 1983, he concepted and wrote the 30:SEC spot for Southwestern Bell Telephone "E.T. Phones Home and Saves - Reach Out and Touch Someone". This single spot won more advertising awards than any other to date at that time.
